DRC and GABON

OK..Been there, Done that..Am sure most of you have heard that phrase...Well, i have been to those two countries and might i just add that they are the most Pocket unfriendly countries in the world...The Hotels were just too much...I mean, Formula one standard but they cost more than USD450 per night....The food if you are not used to it is also a problem...Did i mention that everything was expensive..?I bought Pizza for USD26 and 230ml coke bottle for USD4...If you have money to waste and yet you don't know what to do with it, i suggest you go to these two countries...I had to PAY USD50 un-receipted amount (bribe) to a clearing agent so that my course guides could be released...

Now Gabon is paradise compared to the DRC...Atleast i could take lots of pictures when i was in Gabon, the DRC on the other hand was something else...I was not allowed to openly take pictures...I honestly think that on any given day, i would never go there voluntarily...NEVER...Its just that i have work, thats why i have to go there...Language barrier is even bigger...Gabon was better, 1 in every 50 people i met could speak a few english words, whereas DRC, one in 100 could speak English...Now, you all know that this is a problem if you are not going to meet 100 people...

I came back from DRC and i was sick within 3 days....Luckily the Dr managed to keep me alive.. For anyone going to these countries, word of advice, Take all your medication, carry lots of money, and learn French...
